DESCRIPTION


The selected vendor will provide comprehensive workers’ compensation third party administration and managed care cost containment services for a self-insured workers' compensation program. Responsibilities include claims management, medical bill and treatment review for injury and illness claims, and evaluation of the reasonableness of treatment prior to payment. The vendor is also expected to establish and maintain accurate claims reserves for all anticipated benefits and related costs, as well as review medical documentation and alleged wage loss prior to settlement negotiations.

An effective electronic data security system with robust access and integrity controls, and a continuity program for system operations, must be maintained. The provider should offer a computerized claims management system, attend workers’ compensation hearings and mediations as required, and handle both new and existing claims. Additional services include medical management, utilization review, and administration of trust fund checking accounts. The contract period is three years.
