This project seeks an external consultant to lead and facilitate the development of a comprehensive strategic plan. The consultant will be responsible for designing an inclusive and structured strategic planning process, resulting in a clear and actionable strategic plan for the organization.
Key responsibilities include project initiation and governance—defining scope, objectives, deliverables, and establishing a work plan with detailed timelines and milestones. The consultant will develop an engagement and communications strategy, clarify governance structures, and identify potential risks with mitigation plans.
An environmental scan and organizational analysis will be conducted, involving internal and external environment assessments, reviewing sponsor priorities, and applying analytical frameworks. Consultation with interested parties, including sponsor representatives, medical learners, student organizations, the broader medical education community, and the public, will ensure meaningful input.
The consultant will help collaboratively develop the organization's mission, vision, and values, identify 3–5 strategic priorities, define objectives and outcomes, and propose performance metrics using tools such as a Balanced Scorecard. They will also develop an implementation roadmap and provide recommendations for communication and rollout strategies.
Best-fit vendors:
• Experienced management or strategic planning consultancy
• Demonstrated facilitation expertise within educational or non-profit sectors
• Proven track record in stakeholder engagement and organizational analysis
• Familiarity with Balanced Scorecard or similar frameworks
• Strong presence in Ontario or the Canadian market
