The Idaho Department of Education is seeking information regarding science formative assessment platforms for K–12 classrooms. The desired platforms should support three-dimensional science instruction and be designed around phenomena-based learning experiences. Assessment activities are expected to include a variety of modalities such as modeling, explanation, data analysis, investigation, and argumentation, all aimed at eliciting student thinking and facilitating informed instructional decisions.
The platform should primarily function as a formative instructional tool, delivering educators timely and actionable insights into students' understanding, misconceptions, and progressions. Reporting and data visualization features must be user-friendly and focused on classroom-level application, allowing teachers to monitor student progress within instructional sequences without serving as a high-stakes or summative assessment platform.
Respondents are asked to provide detailed descriptions of platform requirements, integration capabilities with Learning Management Systems (LMS), device compatibility, and data privacy safeguards. Additionally, information about available professional learning opportunities or onboarding support for educators should be included. Questions concerning this request must be submitted by February 6, 2026.
