The agency is seeking solutions for a portable patient transport system designed for the safe transport of a single, non-ambulatory infectious patient, addressing biocontainment, isolation, and quarantine needs. The proposed man-portable system must prevent the spread of biological threats during air, rail, ground, or sea transport and be certified for flight on multiple military airframes while being compatible with select ambulances and sustainable in austere environments.
The system must protect personnel, transportation platforms, and crew from contamination while facilitating a high standard of medical care. Vendors are required to provide a comprehensive Supporting Data Package, including evidence such as third-party test reports, engineering analyses, modeling data, certifications, and other documentation supporting performance claims. Contractors are expected to supply detailed test plans, reports, and supporting documents on system features such as negative pressure maintenance, filtration, accessibility, operational characteristics, and platform integration.
Supporting documentation should address all performance claims related to biological protection, patient care (e.g., glove ports, visibility, waste management, patient restraint), maintainability, reliability, and integration with various transport platforms. The contract term is one year.
Best-fit vendors:
• Expertise in biocontainment and medical transport systems
• Experience with designing portable, certified medical equipment for military or emergency use
• Demonstrated capability in submitting thorough technical and test documentation
• Proven track record in supporting isolation and quarantine solutions for infectious disease scenarios
