The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking qualified sources for the renovation of approximately 6,768 square feet on the third floor of Building 3A at the Columbia VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. The project aims to convert existing space into administrative and training areas to support EHRM (Electronic Health Record Modernization) initiatives.
Scope of work includes the removal of existing partitions, resurfacing perimeter walls, and construction of new interior partitions. New ceilings, flooring, doors, and finishes will be installed, with the provision that training room furnishings and workstations will be provided and installed by the owner. The fire protection system will be adjusted and extended for the renovated areas, and modifications will be made to the existing fire alarm system.
The HVAC system upgrades involve installing a new custom air handler with VAV terminal units, new ductwork and registers, and a split system air conditioner. Hot and chilled water lines will be extended, and a breakroom will be outfitted with a stainless-steel sink and associated piping, as well as a new condensate drain in the mechanical room.
Electrical improvements include the addition of two new 120/208-volt panelboards for office equipment and devices, powering variable frequency drives for the new air handler from an existing 480-volt panelboard, and all new LED lighting controlled by line voltage switching. Data communications infrastructure will be enhanced with the addition of a new Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) to support the renovated space.
