A five-year contract opportunity is available for vendors to provide regional media advisory services in Quebec. The selected media advisors will be responsible for answering media queries received by email and phone, with assigned coverage for specific geographic locations as determined by designated area codes. Advisors will utilize pre-approved information, including media lines and backgrounders, and will proactively reach out to media outlets to pitch stories or clarify existing coverage within their assigned regions.
When media inquiries cannot be answered using pre-existing content, the advisor will research appropriate responses and escalate as necessary according to established protocols. Additional responsibilities include logging and evaluating interview requests, conducting media interviews as permitted, tracking all media interactions, and compiling statistics and reports on media coverage. The role also involves drafting news releases, media advisories, communication strategies, and other related documents, as well as providing strategic communication and media relations advice to staff.
Advisors may also be tasked with advising on advertising placement or assisting with ad placements in both regional and national media. Daily field reports on regional and national media issues will be produced and delivered to the technical authority. Proficiency with Windows-compatible word processing software, databases, and internet-based communication tools such as wikis and social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) is required.
