The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Construction and Facilities Management (CFM), is seeking industry feedback through a Special Notice / Request for Information (RFI) regarding a Standards Alert Memo. This memo responds to a directive from the VA Secretary to identify methods for eliminating inefficiencies and reducing costs in the design and construction of VA healthcare facilities. The initiative emphasizes incorporating private sector best practices and relevant standards while ensuring mission-critical requirements are upheld.

Industry professionals with extensive experience—particularly of at least 10 years in both private and public healthcare facility design and construction—are encouraged to review the attached Standards Alert Memo and provide insights on actionable improvements. The objective is to eliminate burdensome requirements, streamline processes, and ultimately reduce project costs and timelines. While responding is not mandatory, the VA encourages knowledgeable partners to contribute professional input to enhance project delivery for Veterans. Additional time to respond may be requested by contacting the Contracting Officer.

Best-fit vendors:

• Established experience (10+ years) in healthcare facility design and construction

• Demonstrated work in both private and public sector projects

• Familiarity with industry standards and process improvement

• Expertise in large-scale facility planning and cost reduction strategies

• Ability to provide comprehensive professional feedback to government clients
