A government authority in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a qualified vendor to remove and replace a residential ramp at the front of a residence, ensuring compliance with wheelchair accessibility requirements. The scope of work includes demolition and removal of all existing ramp components such as joists, runners, beams, decking, and substructure supports. Reconstruction must utilize pressure-treated lumber for all structural elements, while runners on the substructure should be constructed from a solid composite material comparable to Veka decking (Trex is not permitted).
Prior to installation, all product specifications for decking and support materials must be submitted for review. The ramp must incorporate handrails installed at an appropriate height to support wheelchair users, achieving the maximum width possible without narrowing the hallway. Handrails are to be secured properly to both the home and the base for rigidity, with appropriate attachments including 4 x 4 SYP– PTL posts following the ramp hallway clearance. Additionally, all decking surfaces must feature a nonslip design.
The contract will be for a period of one year. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for January 30, 2026.
