The project requires a vendor to deliver comprehensive public outreach and communication plan services to support the update of the Venice local coastal program (LCP). The scope includes developing and executing an inclusive outreach and engagement strategy that encourages broad stakeholder participation, balances diverse perspectives, and fosters community partnerships.
Stakeholder engagement must utilize a combination of methods such as public meetings, online surveys, social media campaigns, targeted newsletters, and community partnerships to gather input and address community concerns. The consultant will assist in preparing for and facilitating outreach events, including the creation of boards, graphics, informational handouts, and support with event facilitation.
The selected vendor should employ varied outreach strategies tailored to distinct audiences—utilizing platforms like social media, print and online media, community forums, and visualization tools to communicate complex policy matters clearly. The consultant team will facilitate in-depth, solution-oriented discussions and ensure respectful dialogue among participants, while also designing materials, managing logistics, and staffing up to ten in-person outreach events. An educational planning toolkit will be developed to help community members understand and participate meaningfully in the LCP planning process.
Best-fit vendors:
• Experience in community outreach and public engagement for urban planning projects
• Proven track record with communication and stakeholder management services
• Strong capabilities in event facilitation and educational materials development
• Familiarity with California coastal programs and regulatory processes
• Ability to coordinate multi-channel communications and manage project logistics
