Late Life Counseling Program Development and Implementation Services

A government authority in Wisconsin is seeking a vendor to develop and implement a Late Life Counseling program for older adults. The program is intended to provide supportive mental health services that reduce stress and strengthen coping abilities among aging populations.

The counseling services are expected to address a broad range of age-related emotional, social, and psychological concerns. These include isolation and loneliness, depression, physical and cognitive decline, separation anxiety and loss, fear of death, changes in identity and interpersonal roles, age-related prejudice, and financial stress. The selected provider must also use a clinically validated assessment tool during counseling sessions to measure participant progress and inform adjustments to counseling strategies.

In addition to direct counseling, the program includes outreach and education for community partners. Health and social service professionals, along with members of the public, should be informed about how, when, and where to refer older adults for late life counseling. The scope also includes providing surviving caregivers and family members with up to four individualized grief support sessions, which may involve direct grief counseling and/or referrals to appropriate grief counseling services to help them adjust to their loss.
