– Scoping review on intervention strategies to mediate wildland firefighters’ exposures to combustion emissions.– Firefighters have an increased risk of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, and cancer.– emissions encountered during all wildland firefighter activities, including, but not limited to, direct fire suppression, mop–up and cold trailing, targeted burning, and Fireline construction and maintenance using internal combustion engine power tools (e.g., chain saw).– Review would be prepared following critical evaluation and synthesis of all available information including peer–reviewed scientific publications, governmental publications, publications from firefighter unions and advocacy groups, publications from occupational health and safety organizations, and any other pertinent information posted online.– Range of activities (e.g., fire suppression, disaster response, emergency rescue); fire suppression and related activities can contribute to a range of exposures that collectively increase the risk of chronic diseases.– The latter explicitly outlines the need for research on firefighter cancer risk; moreover, research on strategies and best practices to reduce risk.
