The government authority in Boxborough, Massachusetts is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive design and construction services for a fire station project. The selected designer will be responsible for delivering all requirements associated with Phase 2 of the project, which includes geotechnical review, well investigation and design, sustainability measures such as photovoltaic and geothermal integration, schematic and design development, construction documents, cost estimating, contractor pre-qualification, FF&E design, energy modeling, and the application for relevant energy incentives. Bidding support is also required. Should funding be obtained, Phase 3 will cover construction administration and project closeout responsibilities.

The designer will report to the Fire Station Building Committee (FSBC) and the Owner’s Project Manager (OPM), participating in meetings with these groups as well as other project stakeholders and community bodies. Regular updates, preparation of minutes, and status reports are required. Additional responsibilities include managing geotechnical and site investigations, program updates, regulatory compliance across local, state, and federal guidelines—including historic and grant-related requirements—and assembling all necessary supporting documents. The designer will also assist with public engagement, site evaluations, environmental and hazardous materials reviews, and interfacing with all relevant authorities having jurisdiction over the project.
