The province of Ontario is seeking qualified vendors for a three-year deployment of advanced road patrol technology aimed at enhancing roadway safety and operational efficiency. The Enhanced Road Patrol project involves implementing cutting-edge solutions such as artificial intelligence (AI), Lidar, thermal imaging, and automated scanning systems to support proactive road maintenance and incident detection.

Key elements of the deployment include the integration of software applications, dashboard cameras, mobile applications, and work order systems, such as a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Solutions must incorporate cloud-based data storage with residency in Canada, robust security measures such as single sign-on (SSO) or multi-factor authentication (MFA), and comply with the agency’s data retention and governance policies. Vendors should provide seamless integration capabilities with GIS platforms (ArcGIS Enterprise compatible), APIs for CMMS and potential customer relationship management (CRM) systems to enhance community engagement and feedback.

Equipment specifications require the use of AI and Lidar technologies, 4K or higher-res cameras with adjustable resolution, and thermal cameras for seasonal needs. Functional requirements include automated infrastructure scanning to monitor the condition of roads, sidewalks, pavement cracks, signs, markings, and to detect concerns such as potholes or graffiti. The technology must deliver high accuracy, with measurement capture down to the millimetre for sidewalk cracks, and provide 180-degree scans. The ability to investigate reported issues and verify against damage claims is also essential for service validation.

Vendors interested in participating should note that all questions regarding this opportunity must be submitted by January 22, 2026. The successful proponent will be awarded a contract for a period of three years.
