The George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center Biomedical Engineering Department in Salt Lake City, Utah seeks a contractor to provide preventative maintenance and onsite repair services for its Barrx Flex RFA Energy Generator. This generator is utilized for tissue ablation within the GI clinic, and the facility requires comprehensive service to maximize equipment uptime, as in-house repairs and backup units are not available.

The contractor will be responsible for all labor, transportation, recertification, materials, equipment, tools, software updates, and safe disposal necessary to maintain and repair the specified device. Coverage will include the generator, associated software, footswitch, and output cable. The agreement includes both base and two option years, covering the period from April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2029. The contractor shall provide all corrective and preventative maintenance, functionally equivalent loaner equipment when the original is out of service, and all software version upgrades at no additional cost.

All maintenance activities must be thoroughly documented, including work performed, parts replaced, labor and travel details, and associated costs outside normal working hours. The contractor is required to check in with the Biomedical Engineering Department before and after each service, provide detailed service reports, and adhere to established processes for quality assurance and reporting. Support is required Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm (local time), excluding federal holidays, with a required response within 24 business hours for service requests. Contractor performance will be monitored and evaluated throughout the contract term to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Best-fit vendors:

• Experienced in servicing medical energy generators, particularly Barrx Flex RFA devices

• Strong background in medical equipment maintenance and repairs for VA or large healthcare facilities

• Ability to provide loaner equipment and comprehensive software support

• Established presence or service capabilities in Utah or the Intermountain West region

• Proven adherence to VA and federal contract compliance and documentation standards
