The government authority in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is seeking vendors to provide electric transmission construction services for a 69kV double circuit line. The scope includes the construction of a new 69kV double circuit line to supply a new airport substation, as well as the retirement of an existing single circuit 69kV line. The project must be executed while keeping the airport substation in continuous service, allowing for only short duration outages needed for cut overs.
Work will occur in close proximity to the existing energized transmission system. The structures involved are TS–5GA types, and the conductor between the structures can be installed without clearance concerns. The selected contractor should demonstrate proficiency in performing similar construction projects under energized conditions.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for May 8, 2026, and all questions must be submitted by May 15, 2026.
Best-fit vendors:
• Experienced in high-voltage (69kV) transmission line construction
• Proven record with live-line work and complex substation projects
• Ability to manage projects requiring minimal outage times
• Licensed contractor in Colorado
• Familiar with TS–5GA structure installations
