A request has been issued for a degraded visual environment system designed to enhance aircrew safety by aiding in the identification of hazards during flight. The system should enable aircrew to detect enroute hazards, including terrain, antennas, wires, and poles, as well as terminal area hazards such as vehicles, fence posts, ditches, berms, holes, and large rocks.
Integration with existing HH–60W aircraft systems—including sensor, display, navigation, and flight management components—is required to the greatest extent possible. Additionally, the installation of the system must avoid causing any structural damage or hazards to the aircraft, especially when it is on the ground at full weight. Vendors with expertise in avionics and airborne hazard detection solutions are encouraged to respond.
