BC Ferries is seeking a qualified vendor to lead the selection and implementation of a comprehensive data platform over a three-year contract. The objective is to establish a scalable data foundation that supports a wide spectrum of operational and analytical workloads, with the capability to transition from traditional descriptive reporting toward advanced forecasting, optimization, and AI–driven insights as business requirements evolve.
The platform solution will encompass a combination of products, technologies, integration services, configuration, and enablement activities. It must accommodate non–SaaS components that are deployable within a Microsoft Azure cloud environment. Integration with BC Ferries’ existing identity and access management (including Entra ID), encryption, monitoring, and audit controls is required. The system will facilitate ingestion and processing of diverse data types, including IT and OT data from vessels, terminals, enterprise and SaaS applications, sensors, gateways, third-party, and future data sources.
Key capabilities include support for near real-time (1 to 60 seconds), batch, streaming, and advanced analytics workloads; delivery of standardized, governed, domain–aligned data products; self–service analytics; and features for modern data governance such as cataloging, lineage tracking, metadata management, and stewardship. The platform must integrate with current and future BC Ferries applications and operational technologies, provide support for DataOps and scalable engineering practices, and enable continuous expansion of the organization’s analytical and operational capabilities.
