Computrition NCM Select Software Licensing and Support

The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 17 Network Contracting Office, has issued a notice of intent to award a sole source contract for the South Texas VA Health Care System Nutrition and Food Services Department. The requirement is for Computrition software and licensing, including software subscriptions, database access, updates, maintenance, and related technical support necessary to continue clinical and operational nutrition management services. The anticipated period of performance is from September 29, 2026 through September 28, 2027.

According to the notice, the Government intends to award a one-year order to Computrition, Inc. under FAR 8.405-6(a)(1)(i)(B), based on a limited sources justification that only one source can provide the required supplies and services at the necessary level of quality. The agency states that the Computrition platform is proprietary and already fully integrated into South Texas VA nutrition and food service operations, supporting clinical dietetic workflows, menu management, tray accuracy, nutrition analysis, and patient safety-related data.

The VA reports that market research found no alternative or authorized source capable of providing the required licensed access, updates, integration modules, maintenance, and support for the existing system. Interested parties may submit documentation demonstrating their technical capability to provide the required Computrition software and services, along with a letter from Computrition, Inc. confirming authorized reseller or distributor status. The notice states that this is not a request for competitive quotations or proposals, but submitted capability statements may be reviewed to determine whether a competitive procurement is appropriate.
