The university is seeking a vendor to provide a cloud-based fiber plant management software solution. The tool should comprehensively support the planning, documentation, operation, maintenance, and expansion of the institution’s fiber-optic infrastructure.
Requirements include thorough data migration capabilities, allowing for the import of legacy documentation, CAD files, Visio diagrams, photos, and spreadsheets, as well as tools for data cleanup and validation. The software must offer strand-level fiber network modeling, splice tray documentation, enclosure mapping, rack elevation displays, and the ability to trace physical and logical circuits end-to-end. Asset and inventory management features are also required, supporting the database management of cables, conduits, wireless backhaul, and related infrastructure.
The solution should support integration by enabling exports to formats such as Excel, CSV, PDF, AutoCAD, and GIS, as well as providing APIs and connectors for IT service management tools. It must facilitate the attachment of documents (such as PDFs, blueprints, as-builts) and include robust approval and update tracking workflows. The delivered platform should include migrated and validated fiber plant records, and be a fully configured fiber management solution. The contract term is three years.
Best-fit vendors:
• Experience delivering fiber network management software for universities or large campuses
• Proven track record in data migration from legacy documentation systems
• Ability to integrate with IT service management tools and support major file formats
• Robust workflow and documentation features in cloud-based platforms
• Strong presence and service capability within the United States
