A Texas academic medical campus is seeking a qualified vendor to provide automation services supporting both clinical and non-clinical operations. The scope includes assisting with automation strategy development and integrating automation solutions—such as robotics—into facility operations during the schematic and design development phases. The selected vendor will facilitate the creation of an automation framework that informs strategic decisions, future space requirements, specific planning, and the establishment of new processes and policies to advance the campus’s physical and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities involve designing and validating systems for the robotic transportation of materials throughout the campus. This includes cataloging materials, evaluating the spatial and equipment impact of robotic deployment, and balancing investments between robotics and human labor to optimize cost and flexibility. The vendor will be tasked with developing a quantitative throughput model to address clean supply, soiled waste, linen, dietary, pharmacy, sterile processing, and laboratory material flows, as well as producing a comprehensive material handling matrix specifying commodity types, movement patterns, schedules, and volumes. The contract will be for a one-year term.
