The selected consultant will develop a public outreach plan aimed at encouraging active community engagement during key stages of the bus stop planning process, prioritizing inclusive and accessible outreach methods. The consultant will prepare presentation and outreach materials for both virtual and in-person events, including workshops, focus groups, walk audits, design charrettes, and pop-up activities, with the goal of gathering input from community members, particularly at bus stops or on board buses.
A phasing strategy and implementation schedule for bus stop improvements will be established as funding becomes available. The consultant will conduct field assessments of bus stops to understand rider conditions and develop a comprehensive checklist of criteria and attributes for these assessments. Additional evaluation will include feasibility and prioritization for real-time information systems, and the availability of electric and data communications for digital displays.
The consultant will devise a prioritization framework classifying bus stops by improvement need based on feasibility, ridership, location, land use, and other relevant factors. Revisions to existing guidelines may include enhancements for shelters, benches, bins, bicycle facilities, real-time displays, and boarding amenities. The outreach plan will specify objectives, tactics, milestone schedules, and methods for evaluating stakeholder input.
