The project requires the provision of bike lane protection and wayfinding services in North Carolina. This includes the installation of vertical protections within bike lane buffers along two designated corridors and the addition of wayfinding signage on several neighborhood bike routes. Both workstreams involve significant specialty pavement markings, utilizing both green bike lane material and preformed thermoplastic applications.
Contractor responsibilities cover mobilization, installation of 5-inch mono surface-mounted concrete islands, supply and installation of contractor-furnished Type E signs and 3-lb steel U channel supports, as well as erection and relocation of Type E signs. Additionally, thermoplastic pavement marking characters (90 mils) are required as part of the specialist markings. The contract term will be one year, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for April 16, 2026.
Best-fit vendors:
• Experienced civil or roadway contractor specializing in bicycle infrastructure
• Proven track record with specialty pavement markings and signage installation
• Capacity to handle surface-mounted concrete island and sign erection projects
• Licensed to operate in North Carolina
• Ability to complete projects within municipal or state contract requirements
