The organization is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive administration and program services for its self-insured workers' compensation program. Services must comply with the Connecticut Workers' Compensation Act, statutory updates, and applicable state regulations. Responsibilities include claims administration, accurate and realistic reserving using industry-standard actuarial practices, early three-point contact with injured employees, supervisors, and treating medical providers, disability management, utilization review, nurse case management when authorized, and pharmacy benefits coordination.
The selected vendor will coordinate litigation and dispute management with Corporation Counsel and/or the Director of Human Resources, including representation at Workers' Compensation Commission hearings. The vendor will also maintain sensitive, ongoing communication with claimants, physicians, and city stakeholders regarding benefit structures.
Additional requirements include maintaining a secure, web-accessible Risk Management Information System for incident tracking, conducting comprehensive risk management assessments, and developing tailored risk control strategies to reduce the impact and frequency of losses.
