A county in Virginia seeks a vendor to deliver third party administrator services for its self-insured workers’ compensation program. Responsibilities include determining claim qualifications, processing all required payments, comprehensive reporting, and the day-to-day management of both open and outstanding claims in close collaboration with the Department of Finance, Risk Management Division, attorneys, and actuaries as appropriate.
The selected vendor will handle claim adjustment and ensure adjusters maintain a manageable volume for thorough investigations and timely communications. Claims must be receivable 24/7 via fax, email, or other electronic means, and all new claims require acknowledgment within 24 hours, providing relevant claim information to both the employee and the County. Additional services include case management, pre-settlement evaluations (including Medicare Set Asides), case synopses, settlement recommendations, and reporting on indemnity/medical payments and projected future expenses. The provider must also offer 24/7 telephonic claim reporting and real-time online access to claims systems that allow for County personnel communication with adjusters.
