The City of Camden is seeking a qualified attorney or law firm to provide special counsel professional services for a one-year contract period. The selected provider must have extensive experience in municipal law, including advising governing bodies and drafting and codifying municipal legislation.

Services will include providing legal guidance to the City Council, researching and drafting legislation, attending caucus, regular, and special City Council meetings, participating in meetings requested by Council members or the City Attorney, and handling other assignments directed by the City Attorney. The provider will also attend status meetings with City personnel as needed.

Additional responsibilities include advising on the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, and common-law access to public records; drafting written legal opinions for approval by the City Attorney; and submitting detailed monthly activity and status reports.
