DESCRIPTION

The government authority seeks professional services to produce a current, standardized sensitive ecosystems inventory for the valley-bottom floodplain and riparian zone in Nelson, British Columbia. The inventory must attribute mapped ecosystems with information on rarity, condition, known species at risk, and rare-ecosystem values.

The work includes interpreting air photography and orthoimagery, conducting field verification, and following provincial sensitive ecosystems inventory and terrestrial ecosystem mapping standards. The resulting spatial data must be suitable for archiving with the Community Mapping Network and consistent with a watershed-wide product, while updating earlier inventory where appropriate so the study area forms one continuous dataset.

The successful contractor will also create geospatial tools and map products from non-sensitive inventory layers for use by partnership members and stewardship groups in education and community outreach. Deliverables are expected to include a hostable and maintainable online map viewer or story map-style product, presentation-ready maps, and plain-language materials.
