Project Engineering Services for Street Reconstruction and Water Main Replacement

A government authority in Caro, Michigan is seeking project engineering services for a street reconstruction and water main replacement project. The work includes approximately 840 total feet of water main replacement, including about 240 feet along the south side of East Frank Street (old M-24), 200 feet of storm sewer replacement, two sanitary sewer manhole replacements, 460 feet of sewer lining, street reconstruction with new curb and gutter, driveway replacement, ADA ramp replacement, pavement markings, and new signage.

The selected consultant will perform topographic surveying and mapping for Howard Street, the intersections of Montague Avenue and East Frank Street, and East Frank Street from Howard Street to Burnside Street for water main replacement. Survey work will include pavement, curbing, sidewalks, driveways, buildings, existing utilities, trees, fence lines, utility poles, and other site features. Services also include establishing horizontal and vertical control, researching and determining right-of-way locations, conducting manhole structure inventory, and preparing a consolidated base map for design use.

Additional responsibilities include developing preliminary design plans for the proposed street reconstruction, water main replacement, and sewer improvements for city review and comment. During construction, the consultant will provide engineering administration services such as preparing monthly pay applications, change orders, certificates of substantial completion, final pay documents, reviewing material shop drawings, responding to requests for information, and coordinating and documenting the pre-construction meeting.
