Nature Center Redevelopment Service

The City of Atlanta seeks a visionary partner for the redevelopment of an existing nature center, aiming to advance environmental education, increase community engagement, and promote stewardship of the preserve. Respondents are invited to submit compelling preliminary conceptual designs for either rehabilitating the current facility (originally constructed in 1979 with a size of approximately 7,500 square feet) or developing a new nature center, including any proposed site improvements on the 30-acre property.

Designs must address the incorporation of the parking lot, publicly accessible educational spaces, public restrooms, and flexible areas for community gatherings. Proposals need to include a conceptual floor plan outlining the square footage and percentage of total space for each use, ensuring that all required amenities and any additional features are documented. Existing utilities available at the site include sanitary and storm sewers, domestic water, and power; there are no known deed restrictions affecting development.

The selected Developer/Operator will be responsible for securing required site surveys and technical reports prior to construction. If renovation is pursued, addressing and remedying all identified deficiencies in the existing building will also be the Developer/Operator’s responsibility.
