DESCRIPTION
The government authority in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking a vendor to provide a mobile satellite station service. This contract involves a one-time purchase of a 1.2m Ku-Band mobile very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite antenna system, as well as associated services for installation, testing, and user training.
The required system must be portable (flyaway) and include all necessary hardware, modems, and cables to enable network data transmission and reception. Installation is to occur on the Mobile Technology Center, and the system will serve as the operational (primary) communications platform. Vendors must provide a solution offering a minimum of 10 Mbps download and 4 Mbps upload bandwidth, with the capability to connect to commercial Ku-band satellite coverage.
The satellite system must support single-button auto-acquisition of the selected satellite and feature auto-point movement to acquire signals from any stationary vehicle position in a 360-degree rotation and 0–90-degree elevation. The antenna system should be rated to operate in winds up to at least 40 mph while anchored.
