DESCRIPTION
A government authority in Linthicum, Maryland seeks a vendor to provide Meals–Ready–to–Eat (MRE) and Humanitarian Daily Rations (HDR) to disaster survivors or incident workforce personnel in austere environments. The selected vendor must ensure rapid delivery of MRE and HDR products within 24 to 48 hours for emergency requests, in accordance with agency requirements.
All products must be properly packaged to prevent spoilage and meet specified packing standards, with a focus on durability to withstand harsh handling and climates. Meals–Ready–to–Eat must be low sodium, shelf–stable with a three-year shelf life at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and designed to sustain individuals engaged in heavy activity when normal food service is unavailable. MREs must be self-contained, include a full meal packed in a lightweight, flexible bag, and fit into field clothing pockets. Each meal should contain an entrée and a side or snack.
The contract will be for one year, with key dates for pre-bid meetings and questions submission provided in the RFP.
