DESCRIPTION

The Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) is soliciting applications from Massachusetts municipalities for waterway crossing sites to perform preliminary design studies. These studies will focus on Transitional Crossings—culverts, streams, or other watercourses landward of the intertidal zone that are expected to be impacted by climate change and sea-level rise by 2100. Selected sites will receive technical assistance from DER and qualified contractors to produce a brief report and preliminary design plans. The goal is to gather information for future ecological restoration, marsh migration, and climate adaptation planning. The contract status for selected sites will expire on June 30, 2027, with a potential one-year renewal option for fiscal year 2028.
