The government authority in Los Angeles, California seeks a vendor to provide comprehensive dark fiber services for high-speed network connections and data transmission between district school sites. The requested solution must include all necessary features, functionalities, and accompanying support services to ensure reliable fiber optic transmissions.
Key technical specifications include single mode fiber handoff with support for 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths. All installations must comply with LAUSD cabling standards, specifically specifications 25569 and 25135, covering both existing and new facilities and cable tray requirements. Maximum allowable loss for splicing is 0.3 dB per splice, and for connectors, no more than 0.5 dB per mated pair. Reflection at connectors should be less than 35 dB, with fiber attenuation at or below 0.25 dB/Km at 1550 nm, and a minimum loss budget of >27 dB (optimum desired >30 dB).
The initial contract term will be for three years. Vendors are required to submit any questions regarding the RFP by June 4, 2026. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on May 27, 2026.
