DESCRIPTION

A government authority in South Carolina is seeking professional services to develop a conceptual design for a replacement community center. The selected firm will first gather and preserve the community’s history, with particular emphasis on oral histories, to ensure that the character, culture, and historical identity of the community are reflected in the future facility.

The scope includes conducting recorded interviews, transcribing and archiving materials in accordance with recognized standards such as those of the American Alliance of Museums, and extracting key themes, motifs, and historical needs from the collected information. The successful offeror will also provide the Town with written or oral histories and a summary package that includes emails, photographs, documents, and summaries of verbal conversations.

Using this research and community input, the selected team will translate the findings into architectural concepts and prepare at least three conceptual design options for a new community center. The opportunity calls for a multidisciplinary team, such as a lead architect, anthropologist or historian, and community facilitator, with demonstrated experience on civic, cultural, or community-driven projects and a portfolio showing the ability to integrate community values into design.
