DESCRIPTION

This RFP seeks a vendor to provide modernization and lifecycle renewal services for a virtualization platform in Alberta, Canada. The proposed solution must deliver a production-grade, on-premises Type-1 virtualization platform or a hardened, virtualization-specific operating system capable of executing workloads directly on hardware through hardware-assisted virtualization. The platform must operate entirely on-premises, without requiring continuous public cloud connectivity for standard operations.

Key requirements include a centralized, authoritative management plane that manages multiple hosts and clusters without routine host-level access, remaining available even if a compute host fails (given quorum or similar conditions). Automated high-availability must be built into the platform, enabling all protected virtual machines to restart on surviving hosts without manual intervention or prolonged service disruption in the event of a single host failure. Additionally, the platform should abstract storage from individual compute hosts and support shared or distributed storage architectures, ensuring support for live migration and high availability features.

Vendors must submit any questions by June 5, 2026. The resulting contract will be for a one-year period.
