A consultant is sought to provide strategic planning services for British Columbia's tourism sector. The main objective is to design and execute a comprehensive stakeholder engagement process that gathers inclusive, transparent, and meaningful input for the development of a strategic business plan. The process should align with collaborative planning principles and support community-driven tourism development.
The consultant will conduct a situational analysis, reviewing current performance metrics, tourism trends, and community feedback. Responsibilities include designing and leading stakeholder engagement sessions such as workshops, focus groups, interviews, and surveys tailored to various groups. One-on-one interviews with key decision-makers and community leaders, as well as broadly distributed online surveys, will be used to collect diverse perspectives.
Regular update meetings with the destination will be held bi-weekly, with the option to increase to weekly meetings as needed. The consultant will validate findings with stakeholders, adjust plans accordingly, and work to build consensus around shared priorities, strategic goals, mission, vision, values, and initiatives. All work must ensure alignment with provincial guidelines and local policy directions. The contract period for these services is five years.
