The government authority in Lyons, New York is seeking a vendor to provide peer support program services for veterans and their families. The program includes delivery of a Peer-to-Peer Support Program and the provision of a full-time Veteran Peer-to-Peer Coordinator to engage veterans and their families in project activities.
The requested services are intended to provide non-clinical, peer-delivered support rather than traditional counseling or therapy. The program should maintain awareness of available clinical mental health and substance abuse services and establish referral pathways for veterans experiencing behavioral health crises. Services are expected to support trust-building, address referral and resource needs, increase social connectedness, and assist with reintegration into the community.
Additional goals include raising community awareness of the challenges veterans face when returning home, developing partnerships with existing organizations, supporting military families as they understand reintegration needs, and helping prevent isolation, depression, substance abuse, and self-harm. The vendor will also provide one-to-one and group peer support and foster media marketing efforts around events and programs that support veterans and reduce stigma.
