The government authority in Berlin, Vermont is seeking qualified vendors to conduct a comprehensive dam removal study and preliminary design services. The objective of this project is to evaluate the logistics, challenges, costs, benefits, and potential drawbacks associated with removing an existing dam.

The scope of work includes a range of tasks: conducting a thorough desktop and field survey, mapping invasive species, assessing site habitats, probing and testing impounded sediments for contaminants, estimating sediment volume, assessing stream geomorphology, and evaluating structural, geotechnical, and utility aspects of the site. Additionally, the selected vendor will be responsible for providing photo-renderings of expected conditions after dam removal.

Further tasks involve river flow estimation, establishing and validating a river analysis (RAS) model, and performing an alternatives analysis to assess the environmental impacts of dam removal under various scenarios.
