Bruker OPUS Software Upgrades for NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC), intends to negotiate a sole-source contract with Bruker Corporation for updated OPUS software systems used to operate agency-owned Fourier near-infrared spectrometers located in Seattle, Washington. These instruments support research analyzing fish otoliths and related structures to determine age, growth, and developmental processes, including the effects of marine environmental conditions such as temperature and chemistry changes.

According to the notice, this analytical work supports fisheries science used to inform management recommendations for commercially valuable fish species and is conducted in support of Executive Order 14276, "Restoring American Seafood Competitiveness." NOAA states that the sole-source determination is based on the need for researchers to obtain accurate organism age and growth data using established scientific methods and existing instrument systems.

This notice is not a request for competitive quotes, and no solicitation package is available. However, firms that believe they can fully meet the Government's requirements may submit a capability statement for consideration. Responses must be received by 4:00 PM EST on July 28, 2026, and should provide sufficient detail for NOAA to determine whether the respondent can meet all requirements. Contractors doing business with this office must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM).
